1.
feeling or showing confidence in oneself; self-assured.
"she was a confident, outgoing girl"
Sometimes, I become afraid of what people will think of me. "What do I look like to them?" I ask myself...probably every time...before I step into a crowd. I straighten my clothes, I fix my hair, and I smile as I walk up to a person who has no idea who I am. Who am I? I ask myself. It's a strange question, yet one that I constantly repeat over and over in my head.
I overthink things. Something as simple as walking up to a complete stranger and saying "Hi!", I turn into something I think might change my life. Something I think could either change my life for the best or the worst. Why is it so hard for me?
What is funny, though, is that at times I am the one who walks up to that girl in the corner of the room and introduces myself. And then at other times, I am that girl in the corner of the room. But, really, what it comes down to is.................what am I afraid of?
And, really, the truth is...I'm afraid of who I am. I'm not really afraid of anybody else. I'm afraid of what they will think of who I am.
Then the question comes back......Who Am I?
I am just a 13-year-old girl.
I am a Christian.
I have a strange fear of spoons :P
I love to laugh. I don't want to go one day with out laughing!
I am insecure.
I am, at times, loud, spontaneous, and random!
And, at other times, I am quiet and shy.
It's hard for me to make decisions.
I am probably not the most responsible human being on the planet ;)
I blush a lot.
I cry.
I have freckles which I don't like very much.
I like to sing my heart out.
But, more important than any of those things....I am loved.
By who? By the God who created the world, and everything in it. The God who sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for my sins. The cross that I very much deserve. That every one of us deserves. But the cross that Jesus was pierced and died on for our sins! He loves little me. The 13-year-old girl...who is insecure. And he sees over all of my "flaws" and insecurities. And all He sees is a child of God. He calls me Beloved!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. - John 3:16-17
That's something else to add to the list:
I am His Beloved.
Now, here I am again, about to face a crowd of people. I close my eyes and think "I am loved. I am His Beloved. In His eyes, I am beautiful." :) I smile to myself. That's all that matters!! No matter what anybody else may think, I am assured that God loves me sooo much.
I am not ashamed of who I am! Because, who am I? I am His!!
The next time you are that girl in the corner, afraid to step out into the crowd. Embrace who you are!
Be-lov-ed
1. Dearly loved
Be confident with this title. You are precious. You are loved. You are unique. You are lovely. You are young. You are free! You are you! Stop comparing yourself to others. And be who you are! Be unafraid <3 Be that girl, the girl who can change the world! Because you....yes YOU!....are so special in the eyes of God! So just believe that you can still be that girl!

Oh I love that song so much...both the Girl on Fire and Still That Girl. Wonderful post, Noelle, I agree completely with you. I'm super insecure. I have so many flaws. I'm mostly shy. In my eyes I mostly look stupid. But He still loves me...thanks for the beautiful post. xxx
ReplyDeleteTane ♥
I knowwwww! I love both of those songs! :P And also, the title was inspired from the Hunger Games, when Katniss was called "The Girl on Fire" xD Thank you, Tane ♥ That is something we all have to remember, and also....that God created us, and that He is proud of us, so we need to stop putting ourselves down! Thanks for your sweet comment XOXO
